Dental Treatments

Cleanings and advanced periodontal treatment

The road to a healthy mouth with periodontal issues is something Dr. Sciabica and Dr. Lisin work hard on preventing. Periodontal treatment is an enduring process that will leave you with the healthiest set of teeth at the end of the day. Treating periodontal problems will ensure the longevity of your dental health. Through a process of proper treatment, proper home care, and regular dental visits, a large amount of patients should be able to keep their teeth forever! After evaluating your periodontal health, Dr. Sciabica and Dr. Lisin will assist you in creating the most effective treatments to ensure your oral health stays at its' most prime.

Dental Sealants

A sealant is a plastic object that dentists apply to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, or the premolars and molars. The plastic is supposed to bond into the grooves of the teeth and serve as a barrier to protect your teeth from plaque and acids that are found in food particles.

Although brushing and flossing daily help a great deal to remove food particle and plaque, toothbrush bristles lack the capability to reach into the depressions and grooves located on the back of your chewing teeth, ultimately leaving those areas susceptible to plaque and acids. Sealants help protect the most vulnerable areas of the teeth by "Sealing Out" those areas, preventing the plaque and food to stay.

Non-metal fillings

Before non-metal fillings were invented, patients would leave the office with no choice but to keep the dark an unattractive metal crowns, almost always sparking a sense of self consciousness and anxiety when you smile. The good news is that porcelain fillings are now available and taking over the dark days of metal fillings!

Porcelain fillings offer a more appealing option to the old metal crowns that were offered before. The porcelain holds the tooth structures together and work to not only improve the appearance of your teeth, but strengthen the bonds that you teeth hold.

Fluoride treatment for decay prevention

Fluoride is an ongoing treatment that has been used in oral care for years. Fluoride itself is a natural occurring element that strengthens the teeth and prevents tooth decay. Through Dr. Sciabica and Dr. Lisin's in office fluoride treatments, your teeth will be polished and then fluoride will be applied for about four minutes. Fluoride treatments are available to both children and adults. Depending on an evaluation through Dr. Sciabica or Dr. Lisin, you will be given options in helping prevent tooth decay in your mouth!

Teeth whitening

We are all guilty from binging on items that make our teeth suffer. Coffee, tea, tobacco, red wine, antibiotics, and age can all take a toll on the whiteness of your teeth. With all of the everyday extremities constantly darkening your teeth, patients have the option to whiten their teeth! There are two options that patients get to choose from:

• If you don't have the time to make it to your dentist for a long extended of time, try At-home bleaching kits! This procedure uses carbamide peroxide solutions to oxidize and bleach your teeth. After a consultation with your dentist, you will get a customized tray for your mouth based on plaster molds of your teeth. Place the solution in these trays, then hold the tray in your mouth for the amount of time specified by your dentist. He or she will determine a duration of treatment. In a few weeks, return to your dentist for a follow-up appointment.

• If you do have a little more time to go in to the office, In-office bleaching (also called chair side, light-activated or one-hour bleaching) is the choice for you. This procedure uses hydrogen peroxide gels and a heat or light source, these treatments lighten your teeth by six to eight shades in one to three visits, and sometimes less. The light source can be a plasma arc lamp or a laser. The dentist applies the gel to your teeth, then shines the light source, quickening the work of the gel. When a lamp is used, three twenty-minute gel applications are required. When a laser is used, the dentist treats each tooth individually.

Dental Crowns and bridgework

When your teeth needs restorations, consider Dental Crowns! Crowns (or caps) are essentially dental restorations that are placed over a tooth when conservative restorations are insufficient to restore form and function. If you find yourself missing teeth, a bridge serves to replace a missing tooth or teeth. There are a multitude of types of crowns or bridges that you may use to fit your dental needs. One type of bridge consists of crowns placed on either side of the missing tooth to connect the replacement tooth or teeth to them. Another type of bridge consists of the replacement tooth attached to the adjacent teeth with wing-like appendages. Bridges can also be supported by dental implants.

If you're looking for an extra appealing alternative to crowns and bridgework to restore your teeth, Natural-looking crowns and bridges can be an ideal solution to replace or support missing or damaged teeth. Thanks to Dr. Sciabica and Dr. Lisin's state-of-the-art equipment, these procedures are much simpler and the results are much more aesthetically pleasing than ever before.

Implant restorations

One innovative solution to restoring and creating the most healthy and attractive smiles possible are dental implants. Implants are used for multitude of reasons, however they are most often used as ways to replace missing teeth. These can be used in place of bridges or dentures. Dental implants maintain bone mass, furthermore acting as an aide to help prevent additional tooth loss as well as an unattractive facial appearance due to the lack of missing teeth. Dental implants are indeed a surgical procedure in which dentists implant bio-compatible titanium screws that act as the basis for screwing in your implants in the end. The process altogether takes a couple of months, however leaves you with the most healthy, natural looking teeth in the end.
